In Maharashtra, the case of arrest of independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana from Amravati is about to gain more momentum. A meeting of the Privilege Committee of the Lok Sabha has been called on this issue. Navneet Rana has also been called in the meeting to present his side.
This meeting of the committee has been called on 23 May. According to sources, in the meeting, MP Navneet Rana will present his side regarding his arrest in Mumbai and subsequent misbehavior in the police station. Navneet Rana had lodged a complaint in this regard by writing a letter to the Lok Sabha Secretariat on 25 April. Being a Lok Sabha MP, Navneet Rana’s complaint was sent to the Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha. BJP MP from Chatra in Jharkhand Sunil Kumar Singh is the chairman of this 15-member committee. At present there is one vacancy in the committee.
Navneet Rana was arrested by Mumbai Police
You may recall that Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana were arrested by the Mumbai Police last month after they announced to read Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshree, the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Not only this, the workers of Shiv Sena did not allow him to leave his house by protesting at Navneet Rana’s house in Mumbai. Navneet Rana sent a letter to the Speaker and the Lok Sabha Secretariat, calling his arrest illegal and then alleging misbehavior at Khar police station.
