Manoj Pandey Kashmir Visit: Within ten days of the assassination of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey reached Kashmir on a two-day visit on Saturday, May 21. This is General Pandey’s first visit to Kashmir as Army Chief. During his visit, the Army Chief will review the internal security of the Valley including the situation along the LoC. According to the statement issued by the Army, the Army Chief first reached the LoC adjoining North Kashmir and took stock of the operational preparedness.

The field commanders briefed General Pandey about the counter-infiltration grid and field fortification and how peace has been maintained along the LoC since the ceasefire treaty with Pakistan. The commanders, however, also told that the threat of infiltration of terrorists along the LoC remains constant. During this, the Army Chief was also informed about the Army-Citizen Connect on the border.
The Army Chief was accompanied by the Commander of the Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and the Commander of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps (15th Corps), Lt Gen ADS Aujla, during his visit to the LoC. The Chief of the Army Staff, while maintaining the dignity of the LoC, directed to remain fully alert. General Pandey appreciated the soldiers for their courage and services.
Appreciation of police and administration
After visiting the LoC, the Army Chief reached the headquarters of Chinar Corps at Shninagar and took detailed information about the internal security of the Kashmir Valley. General Pandey praised the work of maintaining peace and development in the Kashmir Valley. He also appreciated the local administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other paramilitary forces for this work. General Pandey said that this is the dawn of peace and prosperity in the Kashmir Valley and it has to be maintained.
Let us tell you that after the murder of Kashmiri Pandit, Rahul Bhatt, working in Tehsil Budgam near Srinagar, about 10 days ago, there were protests in Kashmir Valley and Kashmiri Pandits asked the government to transfer them out of the valley and Security was sought.
