Jharkhand Mining Lease: On Thursday, the Jharkhand High Court heard the matter related to mining lease, investment in shell companies and MNREGA scam. Out of this, now two cases have reached the Supreme Court. On the other hand, the matter related to MNREGA will be heard in the Jharkhand High Court itself. The petition was filed by Shiv Shankar Sharma seeking a CBI inquiry into the mining lease of CM Hemant Soren and the shell company case of his close associates. The Supreme Court will hear this petition on Friday, May 20.
Let us inform that, on Thursday, an important hearing was held in the Jharkhand High Court regarding mining lease, investment in shell companies and MNREGA scam related to IAS Pooja Singhal. During the hearing, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, on behalf of the state government, informed the Jharkhand High Court about the filing of SLP in the Supreme Court regarding matters related to mining leases and shell companies.
The state government reached the Supreme Court against the decision of May 17
On May 17, the Supreme Court was approached by the state government regarding the decision that came in the case related to shell companies. In the last hearing, advocate Tushar Mehta, appearing for the ED, while giving information about the registration of 16 FIRs in the MNREGA case, had told about its connection with shell companies and on the basis of this demanded a CBI inquiry. Then the state government filed an SLP in the Supreme Court regarding the mining lease and then the matter related to shell companies. Whereas the matter related to MNREGA will be heard in the Jharkhand High Court itself. A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Hima Kohli said on the arguments of advocates Kapil Sibal and Mukul Rohatgi that this is a serious matter. In which the investigating agency is filing documents in a sealed cover in the Jharkhand High Court before issuing the notice. He argued that the investigating agency is not giving these documents to the other party as well.
Next hearing in Jharkhand High Court on May 24
The next hearing in the Jharkhand High Court on the demand for a CBI inquiry in this case will be held on Tuesday, 24 May. The hearing was also held in the case of Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan. Chhavi Ranjan had filed an affidavit on behalf of the Jharkhand government in the mining case. Regarding the matter, the petitioner’s lawyer Rajiv Kumar told that the matter of filing the affidavit of Ranchi DC in the mining lease case has also been heard in the Jharkhand High Court.
Question raised about Chhavi Ranjan
On behalf of advocate Rajiv Kumar, the High Court was informed that Ranchi’s DC Chhavi Ranjan is chargesheeted in the case of felling of trees in Koderma and has got anticipatory bail from the High Court. On this, the Jharkhand High Court asked whether a charge-sheeted person can file an affidavit on behalf of the state government. Chavi Ranjan is already facing a case under ACB. Vigilance had registered a case against Chhavi Ranjan in Koderma. Vigilance had registered a case in the tree felling case. In 2016, Chhavi Ranjan got anticipatory bail from the High Court.
What did the ED say in the matter?
ED’s entry was made during the hearing in this case in the court. The ED had told the court that there should be a CBI inquiry in the Pooja Singhal case. Many important documents have also been found in the investigation. The ED has claimed in the court that the entire scam has been carried out under a big racket through fake companies. Many big politicians leaders are involved in this. Since 2010, Pooja Singhal was delivering bribe money to the leaders and ministers. No decision was taken in this matter in the court today.
