Mundka Fire Latest Updates: A massive fire broke out in a building near Mundka metro station in west Delhi on Friday evening, killing 27 people. According to fire department officials, the information about the fire was received at around 4.40 pm after which 24 fire tenders were sent to the spot. The fire was brought under control around 1 pm. Delhi Fire Service officials said that eight injured are being treated at the hospital.

Earlier, Delhi Fire Service director Atul Garg told around 10.30 pm that the fire broke out in a three-storey commercial building. The death toll may increase further. The fire was so severe that the flames were seen for about eight hours. NDRF team was also engaged in relief work.

Delhi Police said that 60-70 people have been evacuated from the building. A senior police official said that on receiving information about the fire, police personnel reached the spot and the people trapped in the building were rescued by breaking the window panes and the injured were admitted to a hospital.

Home Minister Amit Shah said, “The incident of fire in Delhi’s Mundka is very sad. I am in constant touch with the concerned officials, the administration is engaged in relief and rescue work. NDRF is also reaching there soon. It is our priority to evacuate people and provide immediate treatment to the injured.

CM Kejriwal tweeted and said, “Shocked and hurt to know about this tragic incident. I am in constant touch with senior officers. Our brave firefighters are doing their best to control the fire and save lives. God bless all.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “I am hurt by the painful death of people in the fire near Mundka metro station in Delhi. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Outer Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sameer Sharma said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the three-storey commercial building houses the offices of the companies. According to the DCP, the fire started from the first floor of the building where the office of the company manufacturing CCTV cameras and routers is located. Police said that the owner of the company has been arrested by the police.
