Delhi Government: Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai held a review meeting with officials of all concerned departments to increase the roadside green cover of Delhi at Delhi Secretariat today. Officers of Forest Department, PWD, DSIIDC, MCD and other concerned road owning agencies will be present in this meeting.
District level task force has been constituted to increase the roadside green cover of Delhi. In order to control dust pollution, instructions have also been issued to all the road owning agencies to prepare a report in 15 days to increase the roadside green cover.
What is the Delhi government doing to control pollution?
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that a meeting was held today to increase the road side green cover of Delhi included in the 14 points under the Summer Action Plan. During this meeting, instructions have been issued to all the road owning agencies to prepare an action plan to control the increasing dust pollution in Delhi.
All road owning agencies will inspect the availability of roadside green cover in Delhi. Along with this, it will also be found through road mapping that how much and what kind of green cover is present in which area. Further action will be taken by dividing it into the category of better and worse. Along with this there will also be mapping of places where green cover is negligible.
What is the Delhi government doing to increase the green cover?
Gopal Rai said that through such road mapping, action plan of all road owning agencies has to be prepared. The report of which will be submitted to the department in the next 15 days. Accordingly, further action plan will be prepared to increase the green cover of Delhi.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that instructions have already been issued to PWD to increase the road side green cover in Delhi. Along with this, orders have been issued today to include other road owning agencies as well. Under which teams have been deployed at the district level to increase the roadside green cover in Delhi.

Along with this, a central monitoring team has also been directed to be constituted. In which officials of all concerned departments like PWD NDPL, Delhi Jal Board, BSES will also be involved. Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that this action plan to increase roadside green cover will play an important role in improving the environment and controlling pollution in Delhi.
