Mansukh Mandaviya In Geneva: The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the 75th session of the World Health Assembly at the WHO Headquarters, Geneva. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that as underlined by the Prime Minister of India, there is a need to create a resilient global supply chain to enable equitable access to vaccines and medicines. There is a need to strengthen the WHO to streamline the WHO approval process for vaccines and therapeutics and to create a more resilient global health security architecture.

During this, he expressed his disappointment by raising the issue of WHO’s death report from Corona in India. He said that India expresses its dismay and concern at the recent statement of WHO on the high mortality rate from all causes, where country specific authentic data published by the statutory authority of India has been disregarded. Ignoring the concern expressed by India and other countries, India would like to express its dismay at the way the WHO report on all-cause high mortality was prepared and published.

What did the health minister say?
Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Central Council for Health and Family Welfare, a constitutional body comprising health ministers of all the states of India, passed a unanimous resolution asking me to express their collective dismay and concern in this regard. He said India believes that this year’s theme, Connecting Peace and Health, is timely and relevant because without peace there can be no sustainable development and universal health and well-being.

What was in the WHO report
Let us inform that, WHO had claimed in a recently published report that between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021, there were 47 lakh deaths due to Kovid-19 in India. Whereas, according to the data of the Government of India, during this period 5,20,000 deaths occurred due to corona virus infection in the country. The Indian government rejected the WHO figures.
