Monkeypox Virus: Cases of monkeypox are being seen in many countries around the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday that 92 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 12 countries in the last 10 days. This figure clearly shows that these cases may increase further in the coming days.
In fact, in these cases, such patients have been found in Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, America, Canada who have never traveled to Africa before. Let us tell you, till now cases were coming from Central and West African countries only. Now scientists are also worried about the cases being registered outside Africa that this is not something new happening.
Oyewale Tomori, former chairman of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences, is on several advisory boards of the WHO. Talking to the media, he said, “I am upset to see that people from other countries are getting infected with this disease every day. This disease is not like what we saw in West Africa. Due to which there is a possibility of this. More is happening that nothing new is happening in Europe and America. He told that no one has died due to this disease in Europe yet.
Government of India also on alert
The Indian government has also now come into alert mode. The central government has asked NCDC and ICMR to keep a watch on the situation of monkeypox abroad. Along with this, instructions have been given to test the samples of suspected sick travelers coming from the affected countries. Let us tell you, so far no case of this disease has been reported in the country. At the same time, its cases are being registered rapidly in many other countries including Britain, Spain, Italy. According to the WHO, the mortality rate in this can be up to 10 percent.

Monkeypox is a virus similar to chickenpox but it has a different viral infection. It was first found in a monkey imprisoned in 1958. In the year 1970, it was found for the first time in a human. This virus is mainly found in the rainforest areas of Central and West Africa.
How does infection spread
Monkeypox is spread by coming in contact with an infected person or animal or by coming in contact with them in some way. This virus enters the body through the eyes, nose, ears and mouth while coming out of the patient’s wound. Apart from this, the fear of spreading this virus also remains due to the bites of animals like monkeys, rats and squirrels. Apart from this, this virus can also spread through sexual contact. The World Health Organization says that it is also investigating many cases related to homosexual people. It is said that this virus is less lethal than smallpox.
What are the symptoms of this infection
In monkeypox, it usually knocks in the body through fever, rash and lump. This can lead to many types of medical problems. Symptoms related to this disease appear for 2 to 4 weeks. It is said that they go away on their own. Sometimes the matter can be serious. In recent times, the death rate has ranged from 3 to 6 percent. In the latest cases, the death toll of 20 people was revealed in Britain itself.
