Jammu Kashmir Delimitation: India has strongly objected to the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) regarding the delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, without naming any country, said that the OIC should refrain from running its ‘communal agenda’ on India at the behest of one country.
He said that in the past also, the Government of India had categorically rejected the statements of the OIC regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and integral part of India.
“We are surprised that the OIC has once again made unsolicited comments on India’s internal affairs,” Bagchi said.
India’s strong reaction has come at a time when the OIC has criticized New Delhi for the delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir. On the Delimitation Commission, the Secretary General of the OIC alleged in a statement that it was a violation of the rights of the Kashmiri people.
The commission was constituted in March 2020 for the delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir, which gave its final report in the past. The report proposes to increase the assembly seats to six in Jammu and one in the Kashmir Valley.
At the same time, there is a proposal to bring Rajouri and Poonch areas under the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat of Kashmir. If the report is implemented, there will be 43 seats in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir in the 90-member assembly.
