Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s problems increased, Election Commission summoned in mining lease allocation case

CM Hemant Soren Case: There is information that the Election Commission has asked Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to appear personally or through his lawyer on May 31 in the mining lease allotment case. The Election Commission had given notice to Soren to present his case on the allegation that he had issued a mining lease in his favor in the state.

Sources privy to the development said that after going through Soren’s reply, the Election Commission has asked him to appear in person or through his lawyer on May 31. Sources said that the commission will listen to him or his lawyers before taking the next step. The Election Commission will send its opinion to the Governor. Section 9A of the Representation of the People Act deals with the disqualification of an MLA for official contract. The Commission has prima facie found that he (Soren) has violated the provisions of section 9A.

Role of Pooja Singhal in mining leases

This matter came into the limelight when Rs 17 crore cash was recovered from the house of CA of IAS officer Pooja Singhal. Apart from this, many of his places were raided, in which many such properties and cash were recovered. Pooja Singhal was working as Mining Secretary in the Soren government. Regarding this, the ED told the High Court that suspended Mines Secretary Pooja Singhal had played an important role in connection with the alleged MNREGA scam in allotting mining leases in the name of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Not only this, Singhal has also been allegedly involved in money laundering cases and the ED claimed to have proof of this.

High Court has sought report from ED

Let us inform that the ED is investigating the mining lease given to CM Hemant Soren. This investigation is going on against Soren for allotting mining leases against Jharkhand Chief Minister and Mines Minister and investing in shell companies of his close friends. The High Court has sought a report from the ED in this matter in a sealed cover. In the same matter, the Election Commission had also sought a reply from Hemant Soren, after which he has filed his answer in the commission.
