Kapil Sibal, one of the big leaders of Congress, left the party on 16 May. He has filed nomination for Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate with the support of Samajwadi Party. He said that I have filed nomination as an independent candidate with the help of SP.
Speaking to India Today channel, Sibal told that he had told Akhilesh Yadav that he wanted to go to the Rajya Sabha and as an independent candidate, he had also sought help from the SP chief. He had further said that after nearly 30 years it is time to leave the party and there is a need to work as an independent.
Along with this, he had said that he would never speak against the Congress. Sibal said that I have good relations with many opposition leaders. My wife says that we have a good relationship with Uttar Pradesh.

Kapil Sibal was born on 8 August 1948 in a Hindu family in Jalandhar, Punjab. His father’s name is Hira Lal Sibal and mother’s name is Rani Sibal. He has inherited law from his father.
Kapil Sibal’s father was a well-known lawyer and was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2006. Kapil Sibal’s father Hiralal Sibal used to practice in Lahore High Court before independence.
But, later he came to India. Apart from a senior lawyer, Hiralal Sibal has the title of living legend in the field of law. She had once lobbied for the case against famous and controversial writers Saadat Hasan Manto and Ismat Chughtai.
Due to his contribution, he was honored by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language and Urdu Aalami Trust. In December 2012 at the age of 98, Hiralal Sibal left this world in Chandigarh.
Rejected IAS job
Kapil Sibal did his graduation in LLB from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University after schooling. He started advocacy in the 70s after earning a law degree. Sibal passed the UPSC exam in 1973, but declined the IAS job and decided to continue practicing law. After this he went to Howard to study LLM and returned to his home country in 1977.
Identity in such a country
Kapil Sibal has been the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association thrice in 1995-96, 1997-98 and 20021-02. He got a real recognition while serving as the Additional Solicitor General of India between 1989-90, when the case of impeachment of Supreme Court Justice V. Ramaswamy was going on in the Parliament. At that time, Sibal himself had reached the court to save him. Due to the manner in which Sibal defended him in this case, he got a different identity in the whole country.
