President Ram Nath Kovind meets Governor General Patrick Allen during his visit to Jamaica


Ram Nath Kovind Jamaica Visit: President Ram Nath Kovind met the Governor-General of Jamaica Sir Patrick Allen on Monday. During this, they discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of information technology and related services, medicine, sports, education, tourism and development partnership. President Kovind along with his wife Savita Kovind arrived on a state visit to Jamaica on Sunday. This is the first visit by an Indian President to the Caribbean country.

The President’s Office tweeted, “President Ram Nath Kovind has met Sir Patrick Allen, Governor General of Jamaica. They discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of IT and related services, medical and pharma sector, sports, education, tourism and hospitality industry and development partnership. Of. Garvey was a political activist, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur and speaker.


President will also visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines


President Kovind arrived in Jamaica on Sunday on the first leg of his two-nation tour. After this he will also go to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The President will be in Jamaica until 18 May. During this he will meet with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness and other dignitaries. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, President Kovind will also address the joint sitting of both the houses of Jamaica’s Parliament.


‘Guard of Honour’ given to President

The President’s Office said, “The President has arrived in Jamaica on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The President was accorded a ‘guard of honour’ upon his arrival.” Prime Minister Andrew Holness said he was extremely happy to receive Kovind and his wife in Jamaica.

Will discuss all aspects of multi-faceted relations between the two countries

He tweeted, “This is the first visit by an Indian President to Jamaica. Your Excellency the Honorable Ramnath Kovind, welcome to Jamaica.” Jamaican newspaper ‘The Glenar’ quoted India’s High Commissioner to Jamaica, Rungsung Masakui, as saying that Kovind during his talks with the Governor-General and Prime Minister of both the countries. Will discuss all aspects of the multi-faceted relationship between The ministry said, “The visit is taking place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jamaica. India and Jamaica are celebrating the 75th and 60th anniversaries of their independence, respectively.
