Facebook Post Against Sharad Pawar: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday condemned a Facebook post allegedly shared by Marathi actress Ketki Chitale targeting NCP president Sharad Pawar and said that “such writings” are the culture of Maharashtra. There is no place in
A Facebook post targeting Pawar was shared on Friday and is purportedly written by a person named Advocate Nitin Bhave. In a statement issued on Twitter and Facebook, the MNS chief said such writing is “not a trend, but diabolical” and needs to be controlled immediately.
Thackeray, however, said there was a need to investigate whether the post was written by those whose names are being taken or if someone is allegedly trying to create a new controversy. He also said that the Maharashtra government should immediately investigate the matter and deal with such things strictly.
This post does not contain Pawar’s full name. It only mentions the surname Pawar and the age of 80. The President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is 81 years old. It has words like “hell awaits” and “you hate Brahmins” which purportedly allude to Pawar. Pawar’s party is part of the ruling coalition in the state, which also includes the Shiv Sena and the Congress.
Thackeray also said that ideology will compete with ideology. “We have differences with him (Pawar) and he will remain. But it is absolutely wrong to come to such a disgusting level. It needs to be clearly stated that this is not the culture of Maharashtra.”
