Anantnag Encounter: Ashraf Maulvi, the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, has been killed in an operation in South Kashmir. This terrorist was killed along with two of his accomplices in an encounter in the jungle in Batkoot area of ??Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Confirming the news, Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that two other terrorists, including Ashraf Maulvi, have been killed in Pahalgam. Ashraf Maulvi was the commander of Hizbul in Kashmir. He was earlier made commander after Riyaz N aikoo was killed on 6 May 2020.
When did Ashraf join Hizbul?
Mohammad Ashraf Khan alias Ashraf Moulvi, a resident of Tengpawa Kokernag area of ??Anantnag district of South Kashmir, had joined Hizbul in 2013 and soon came in the list of most wanted terrorist of the army. According to the police, he used to recruit local citizens into Hizbul by luring them.
On the information of his meeting in Batkoot, a joint team of 19RR Police and Army started a search operation by besieging the Batkoot forest. As soon as the joint team of police intensified their search, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the search party. After which the encounter started. In this encounter, the army killed all three terrorists.

The killing of the cleric is expected to put a halt to the activities of Hizbul in South Kashmir. Now no Hizbul commander is left alive in the entire valley. Maulvi was included in the list of terrorists released at the time of Burhan Wani and at this time was included in the most wanted list of the police. A reward of ten lakhs was also kept on this terrorist.
