The side effects of stress are not only on physical and mental health, but it can also weaken the fertility of women. In this regard, experiments conducted on female rats have shown that when they are placed between the sound of screaming, their ovarian reserve (ovaries) and fertility decreased. Ovarian reserve is the number of eggs left in both ovaries of a woman and It is the quality on the basis of which fertility is determined. Women have a certain number of eggs from birth and cannot be produced any more.
Decreased ovarian reserve means that there is a decrease in the number and quality of remaining eggs in both ovaries and this leads to poor normal fertility. The findings of this study are published in Endocrinology’s Journal of the Endocrine Society. published
How did the study happen?
According to Wenyan Xi, a hospital researcher associated with Xian Jiao Tang University in China, we studied the effect of screaming sound on the ovarian reserve of model rats. In this, we found that female rats that were kept in the midst of screaming had decreased ovarian reserve and fertility, the researchers kept female rats in a screaming environment for three weeks and analyzed its effect on hormones. This included things like the number of eggs, the quality and the chances of conception.
What happened in the study
The researchers found that the sound of screaming caused a drop in the levels of estrogen and anti-Mullerian hormones in rats. Estrogen—a group of hormones that plays an important role in growth and reproduction. Whereas Anti-Mullerian hormone is made from the ovary and it helps in making reproductive organs. The study also found that the sound of screaming saw a decrease in the number and quality of eggs.

Wenyan Xi said that based on these findings, we believe that stress may be related to reduced ovarian reserve. The association of chronic stress with reduced ovarian reserve is important in the sense that clinical treatment can be based on this and attempts can be made to remove those factors in order to prevent the loss of ovarian reserve.
