Now listen to the properties of Tulsi. Tulsi has special significance in most of the ancient Ayurvedic texts of India. It is described in the Charakasamhita that Tulsi destroys hiccups, cough, poison, respiratory diseases and parsnip colic (pain in the ribs). It removes pitta factor, phlegm-depressant and body odour. It has been said in Sushruta Samhita that Tulsi is anti-phlegm, vata, toxic, respiratory, cough and bad odour. In another mythological text, Bhavprakash, it has been said that Tulsi is an antipyretic, gout-worm and foul-smelling. It cures rib pain, anorexia, cough, breathing, hiccups etc.
