Vijay Singla Sacked By Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday sacked cabinet minister Vijay Singla. Shortly after this Singla was arrested. He has been accused of corruption. The court has sent Singla on police remand for three days. Vijay Singla has called the allegation against him a conspiracy. “Attempts are being made to defame the party,” he said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that his government’s stand is zero tolerating corruption. The Chief Minister himself announced the removal of Singla from the cabinet. Mann said he took the decision after receiving information about Singla allegedly demanding one per cent commission in his department’s tenders and purchases.
The Chief Minister said that he has directed the police to register a case against him. After this an FIR was registered against him. Singla is an MLA from Mansa assembly seat. He defeated Punjabi singer and Congress candidate Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu in the assembly elections. Singla is a dentist by profession.
Official sources said that Mann came to know about Singla’s alleged wrongdoings 10 days ago through an officer. The Chief Minister had assured the officer that he was with him and that he did not need to be afraid of anyone. A campaign was launched with the help of the officer after which it emerged that Singla and his associates were demanding ‘one percent commission’. There is also an audio record in this regard.
