Causes of Hypertension in Teens: Today (May 17) is ‘World Hypertension Day 2022’. Hypertension means the problem of high blood pressure. This day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about hypertension around the world. The day focuses on the prevention, detection, cause and control of high blood pressure. High blood pressure or high blood pressure gives rise to many health related problems like heart disease, stroke, thyroid. Every year a special theme is kept to make people aware of hypertension. This year’s theme is ‘Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer’.

It is said that hypertension as the silent killer has become the main cause of death. At present, about 128 crore people in the world are suffering from the problem of hypertension, of which more than 80 million are in India alone. Diseases such as heart disease and stroke resulting from hypertension, which cause the highest number of deaths, are the biggest burden on the economy due to the cost of their treatment.

Adolescents and youth are also suffering from this disease
Ayurveda specialist Dr. R. P. Parashar says that the most worrying aspect of this disease is the fall of adolescents and youth. At present, about 7.6% of adolescents in India suffer from hypertension. There is neither a solid system of regular check-up in adolescence, nor do the symptoms of the disease appear at this age, due to which many parts of the body have been damaged even before reaching puberty.

If the disease is caught in adolescence, then not only can the body be saved from damage, but it is possible to cure the disease only through diet and exercise. To protect adolescents from hypertension, it is necessary that blood pressure tests should be made mandatory in the pediatric departments of schools and hospitals. Hypertension and its resulting diseases can be completely avoided by screening in adolescence.

Main causes of hypertension
The main reasons for having hypertension are frequent consumption of rich and fatty food, lack of exercise, stress, anxiety, and the persistence of mental conditions like depression. To prevent and treat hypertension, it is important that we make changes in our diet and lifestyle keeping in mind the above reasons.

Parashar says that according to Ayurveda, high blood pressure is caused by two types of doshas, ??pitta and vata, so in Ayurvedic treatment of high blood pressure, efforts are made to balance these doshas with the help of medicines. Ayurvedic medicines like Sarpagandha, Jatamansi, Shankhpushpi, etc. help in the treatment of hypertension. Apart from this, medicines like Tulsi, Punarnava, Brahmi, Gulkand, Tagar etc. are useful for peace of mind.

Also, vegetarianism is the best way to reduce high blood pressure. If you include cucumber, watermelon, celery, bitter gourd and garlic in your diet, then there will be a lot of relief in hypertension. It is also necessary to avoid vegetable ghee, butter and fast food. Avoiding caffeine products is very important for high BP. The amount of salt in the food should also be taken less. Exercising regularly is very important to get rid of hypertension.
